Energy Efficiency – How You Can Save Money With the Right Refrigerator

Refrigerators account for about 5 to 20 percent of our monthly energy costs. Buying and using the right and safest commercial refrigeration properly can have a significant impact on our environmental footprint and energy costs.

Steps to Reduce Your Refrigerator's Energy Cost

Even small changes in family refrigerator habits can result in staggering savings over the course of a year. Read on for tips you can do for both:-

1. Set your fridge to the correct temperature:- Ideally, your fridge thermostat should be set between 37 and 40 degrees and your freezer between 0 and 5 degrees. Setting up a refrigerator with a 10-degree cooler can cost 25% more per month.

2. Investing in an Energy Star Certified Refrigerator:- While the initial cost of an energy-efficient refrigerator is likely to be higher than that of an uncertified refrigerator, you will recoup the additional costs in just a few years of dramatic savings.

Energy Star certified refrigerators made today are more than 150 percent more efficient than refrigerators in the 1980s. This means trading can save you a lot of money.

3. Clean and care for refrigerator coils:- The back of the refrigerator is a magnet for dirt and dust. These dirty coils will keep your fridge from running at its maximum efficiency and it will end up costing you money.

To clean the refrigerator wrapper, pull the refrigerator off the wall and unplug it. Then use the brush cover on your vacuum cleaner to gently wipe the roll. Once done, remove the panel from the bottom of the fridge (it should loosen up) and clean these rolls too. Finally, clean the floor under your fridge and turn it over.
